Privacy & your data
Last updated 18 September 2026
Grocery has no analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers and no telemetry. Nothing you do in the app is measured or sold. If you never sign in, nothing ever leaves your phone.
What stays on your device
Everything, by default. Your items, quantities, categories, stock levels, price history and meals are stored in your browser's own storage on the device. A copy of the app that has never been signed in has no account, sends no requests to us, and has nothing of yours anywhere else.
What is sent, and only after you join a household
Sharing a list with other people means the list has to leave your phone. Once you start or join a household, this is synced to our database provider, Supabase, and is readable by the other members of that household:
- Each item: its name, category, unit, whether you track it, its stock level and low-at threshold, whether it is on the list, the quantity, whether it is checked off, which list or store it belongs to, and its price history
- Meals: the name and which items are in them
- The household itself, who belongs to it, and any invite codes you create
- The name you type in Settings, attached to items you add. This is how other members see who added what. If you leave it blank, items arrive without a name.
Anyone in your household can see all of it. Only invite people you mean to share a grocery list with.
Your account
If you sign in by email, Supabase stores that address so it can send you a sign-in link and recognise you next time. If you started a household without an email, you have an anonymous account: a random identifier and nothing else. There is no password, no profile and no name attached to the account itself.
We do not use your email for anything but signing you in. There is no mailing list.
Deleting your account and your data
You can delete your account from inside the app: Settings → Sync → Delete account. It removes your account, your membership of any household, and everything stored on this device.
If a household still has other members after you leave, their copy of the shared list stays — it is theirs too. If you were the last member, the household and everything in it is deleted with you.
If you cannot reach the in-app button — the app is uninstalled, or the device is gone — email purplenerple11@gmail.com with the address you signed in with, and the account will be deleted.
How long data is kept
Household data is kept for as long as the household exists. Deleting your account removes your account immediately, along with any household that has no members left. Data on your device is gone as soon as you delete the account or uninstall the app.
Children
Grocery is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them. It has no social features, no messaging and no way to reach anyone outside a household you were invited to.
Changes to this page
If what the app collects changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. It lives in the same repository as the app, so its history is public.
